What would a Dental Lab be without our talented Dental Technicians? A state-of-the-art building with four walls, a plethora of high-end equipment and FDA approved material and supplies, but no-one to utilize it! At Treasure Dental Lab, we are proud to work with a team of extremely talented dental technicians and support staff who help create beautiful smiles for so many patients all around the country. As an established cosmetic dentistry lab that has been around for over 45 years, one of our core beliefs is investing our resources to help educate and encourage our technicians to be the best they can be with the highest quality of talent and skill in our industry.
Aptitude and Attitude
What does it take to be a dental technician? There are several indicators as to whether someone would make a good dental technician through dexterity and personality tests. It takes a special skill and mindset, or attitude to do the artistic and intricate work necessary in a dental lab. There are schools around the country that help train and educate those who meet the criteria. Once a technician finishes their schooling the real work begins of building years of hands-on experience in a dental lab, honing their craft.
We have eight technicians who have gone on to earn their Certified Dental Technician (CDT) status through the National Association of Dental Labs. The CDT designation is a great achievement and demonstrates a significant mastery of both the knowledge and the applied skills needed in dental technology. A CDT must undergo a series of evaluations and pass three extensive tests within a four-year period. Once a CDT passes all tests, he or she must complete 12 hours of continuing education every year to keep skills up-to-date and to retain their certification status. Continuing Education is an integral part of our business and every year we send our technicians to training around the country to hone their skills by some of the best dental experts in the world. We are so lucky to have the collective team of talented technicians and supporting staff right here at TDL who possess a significant mastery of knowledge and applied skills needed in dental technology.
Appreciation of Dental Technicians
We appreciate all of the hardworking, sometimes underappreciated, technicians around the world who are using their hands, minds and talent to better the dental industry as a whole through their handcrafted restorations. We consider them to be true artists as they help create the beautiful smiles each one of us yearns to have. Here’s to the Technicians not only here at Treasure Dental Lab, but wherever they are working, we commend and thank you for your valued service!
